She was also one of the very few students selected to become a teacher at the law school in her third year.

While in law school, in addition to teaching law, she worked in the Appellate Section of the Travis County District Attorney’s Office writing briefs to the Third Court of Appeals and preparing legal memoranda for the felony trial section. She also worked for one of the Premiere Criminal Defense Law Firms in Austin completing trial briefs, providing legal research and performing pre-trial preparation on all major criminal cases.

After graduation, she was one of nine students selected to work at the highest criminal Court in Texas, the Texas Court of Criminal Appeals, as the personal Briefing Attorney for Judge Bill White. While on the Court, she drafted opinions for the Court, reviewed, researched and provided legal analysis of matters presented to the Court for review as well as analyzing and advising concerning death penalty appeals and writs presented for review.

Following her tenure on the Court, Lisa began her criminal trial attorney career as a prosecutor for the Tarrant County District Attorney’s Office here in Fort Worth. During her ten year career as an Assistant District Attorney, she prosecuted thousands of misdemeanor and felony crimes in all the criminal courts and was promoted to the Chief Prosecutor position in Criminal District Court Number One, the 213th Criminal District Court, Criminal District Court Number Four, 297th Criminal District Court and Trial Room B. She was also appointed Chief of the Tarrant County Gang Unit wherein she supervised a team of felony attorneys, worked with and advised the police department on gang prosecutions and was selected to prosecute many high profile murder and Capital Murder cases.

Throughout her career as a prosecutor, Lisa Mullen successfully tried hundreds of criminal cases, was called upon to train fellow prosecutors and was a regular speaker at educational seminars.
